A lawyer spends an average of seven years in law school before entering the profession. This varies to a large extent by the state and the type of lawyer you are looking for. There are currently about two-thirds of lawyers who began their careers as undergraduates. Most lawyers start out in private practice in the area in which they have their specialties. This means that most will begin with a practice in one state before branching out into different areas of the law in later years.A person needs to graduate from law school in order to apply to the bar exam. 

To be eligible, you must have passed at least one year of course work at an approved university. In addition to passing the bar exam, a person must also pass two other tests, including the ethical questions and the legal matters test. Each test has a different set of rules and procedures that must be followed.Many people choose to pursue an advanced degree in Law after graduating from an accredited law school. An advanced degree can allow for a higher salary and a greater number of opportunities when it comes to employment. 

Most attorneys do not enter the practice of law immediately following graduation. They may join the country's largest bar association or work for a local government agency. After several years of service in the field of Law, attorneys may become disenchanted with the political atmosphere and legal system of their home state and wish to pursue a different type of career.Many lawyers choose to travel from their current state to another state. They do this in order to take advantage of the different types of state bar examinations that are required of attorneys in other states. 

This type of relocation is very common, especially among those who are dissatisfied with their current position. In this case, they will seek out a different type of locale in which to practice Law. It is very common for lawyers to travel from one state to another state in order to take advantage of the differences between the laws of two states. This is often a great way for them to meet people and begin building new relationships.

It is important to note that the location in which a Lawyer chooses to practice law does not make a difference on whether or not that Lawyer will be successful in the field of Law. All lawyers must begin somewhere. Even if a Lawyer moved to a different state from his/her original one, they must first become a Certified Lawyer in that state. After becoming a Certified Lawyer in one state, they may move to another state in order to pursue their profession. Becoming an Attorney is an arduous task. It takes time to become well established in one's state and must be done through many years of practice in order to be successful in the field of Law.
